Full Description
A burnt clay feature was found in 1861 during the cutting of a trench parallel to the Old Dover Road and interpreted as a ustrinum funerary pyre. The ustrinum may in fact be a kiln as a number of pottery wasters were found nearby. (Found in the area of the Roman cemetery - see TR 15 NE:14 at TR 152572). (1-2)
