Full Description
Roman statuette, (see illustration) found in 1887 "by the men who excavated the foundation for Messrs Hammond's new Bank, in Canterbury at the north-west corner of St Margaret's Street". (TR 14925778-Bank shown on OS 1/1250 1974) The soil was a mixture of charcoal tiles and building debris, and contained a gold coin of Tiberius Caesar, bronze coins of Trajan, Hadrian 1st brass, Vespasian 1st brass, two with illegible legends, a spindle whorl and Samian pottery (see also TR 15 NW 77).
