[TR 14925763 - see plan (2)] Two Roman town houses were discovered during excavations on phase IV of the Marlowe Car Park development. The first, built in the early second century was a large masonry and timber house of which nine rooms were located in the excavated area. The second house built in the mid 2nd century was of masonry construction with heated rooms built adjacent to the first house. The rooms were later divided by timber partitions and survived until the late fourth century. (1-2)
