Summary
The remains of an old plaster wall or ceiling with a fresco or painting was found in 1868 opposite the end of Rose Street, in Watling Street. Burnt material indicates the site of a fire. A cornelian intaglio and a tessellated pavement were found. Site of a Roman building.

Full Description
[TR 14865756] The remains of an old plaster wall or ceiling, which evidently had been fresco or painted was found, in 1868, opposite the end of Rose Street, in Watling Street. Burnt wall and wood indicated a fire on the site. At a depth of about 10ft, a cornelian store bearing an intaglio and the remains of a tessellated pavement. (1)
