Full Description
St Edmund's Church, Ridingate, Canterbury, founded in the late 11th century. Site now lost but probably just inside Ridingate [TR 15 NW 141] on the south side [TR 14965746](a). Parish united with St Mary Bredin 1349. There was probably a small surrounding graveyard. (1) The parish of St Edmund Ridingate had sparse housing within it and does not seem to have survived the 14th century, for after this period St Mary Bredin parish absorbed all dwellings within it. St Edmund Ridingate was founded by Hamo, son of Vitalis one of the invaders. (2) The Medieval Patron of the church was St Sepulchre's Nunnery (4)
