Full Description

Tower 22 [TR 143578] One of the medieval towers between West Gate [TR 15 NW 155] and Worth Gate [TR 15 NW 187]. The plinth of a tower was found in Westgate Gardens in 1961 during excavation in advance of road construction. It lay 70 feet south-west of the London Gate and just under 4 feet south of the angle in the city wall. Only half its plan could be recovered , but it seemed to be horseshoe-shaped with a massively- battered base. (1)
