Monument record TR 15 SE 9 - Saxon cemetery, Bifrons Park

Summary

6th century Saxon inhumation cemetery discovered in 1866 while digging a new plantation at Patricksbourne Hill in Bifrons Park. Excavations in 1867 located about 120 inhumations. The finds are in Maidstone Museum. The site lies on a north-west facing slope, overlooking the Little Stour, between 30-50m contours. The derock is chalk.
