Full Description
Watching brief undertaken by ASE in 2007 during the dismantling of a 1940s bridge over the Royal Military Canal at Bilsington, which utilised existing Napoleonic bridge abutments.The abutments measured 2.31m N-S by 3.86m E-W. Constructed of brick with stone quoining. The bridge was upgraded in 1940 as part of the refortification of the Royal Military Canal, when a new span was added to the bridge utilising the Napolenic abutments. Demolition chambers were added to the abutments. (1)
