Summary

St Nicholas's church Grade I. Built of flint and stone rubble with tiled roof. Grade I listed building. The chancel and the walls of the nave are Norman, Tower in 3 stages with crenellated parapet, the lower stages 12th century having clasping buttresses with banding, the battlements 15th century. The arcades and aisles are 14th to 15th century, the timber-framed north porch 14th century. The nave is of four bays with kingpost roof. Roman tiles are built into the tower. Sturry was one of the early minsters founded in Kent before 700.
