Full Description
A quartzite macehead, three and a half inches in diameter with hour-glass perforation, was found at `B' TR 17276231 on the Garden Nurseries of F. Rowbotham, Foxhill House, Sturry. A Thames pick, six and a quarter inches in length, was found nearby at `A' TR 17186228. The implements were discovered in June, 1963, by Mr. Les Marsh, foreman, who indicated the exact findspots. They are on loan to, and on exhibition in, the Royal Museum, Canterbury. (Acc. numbers, RM 8373 (Macehead), RM 8374 (pick). Mr. Rowbotham has in his possession some flint flakes found recently during planting in an area he indicated to the east of the Sturry road, centred at `C' TR 17416235. (1)
