Full Description

The School Hall (formerly listed as Barn at Milner Court), Milner Lane, Sturry. Grade I. (TR 1760 6020 - sited from HHR map). This was originally one of the buildings of the grange of St Augustine's Abbey,Canterbury. Early C16. Long timber-framed building, the ground floor rebuilt in C16 red brick but the timbering partly visible above on theE side with red brick infilling, though partly weatherboarded, the first floor of the W wholly weatherboarded. Tiled roof with 10 king posts inside. The W front has 2 projections, originally waggon entrances, with tiled gables and 2 small red brick buttresses to the lower portion of the ground floor. The E front has 7 loop lights. (1)
