Little Tiffenden Old Barn. Late 17th century timber-framed barn located 450m WSW of Little Tiffenden Farm. The building was constructed using mainly re-used timbers, perhaps from an earlier barn in the vicinity. Measures 12.2m x 6.1m x maximum height 6.95m, with additional lean-tos on the south and west sides extending 3.25m and 2.69m respectively. The main structure comprises of 3 bays. The central bay has a threshing floor, with the main waggon entrance in the northern face and a smaller entrance in the southern face. The lean-tos were constructed in the late 18th / early 19th century as animal shelters. Minor alterations were made to the lean-tos in the mid 20th century, and an additional insubstantial structure was also constructed against the north side of the barn. As of 2004 the barn was considered to be largely structurally sound, with only minor alterations needed to replace damaged timbers and to reclad the walls. (1)
