Monument record TR 23 NE 2 - Bowl barrow; Middle Bronze Age secondary cremation
Summary
A large bowl barrow is located on the edge of cliffs beside the Dover road at Capel le Ferne, and is still extant on aerial photographs taken in 2007. The barrow measures 22 metres in diameter, 2.3 metres high. A secondary cremation in an inverted urn was found near the top of the mound in 1952 and a further cremation exposed by weathering in the south part of the mound in 1967. This site has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP
