A bronze blade in Maidstone Museum (Acc.No. 25/1959) was found c.1880 "in digging a drain near some cottages recently purchased by a Roman Catholic establishment in the upper part of Dover St., Folkestone". "The blade belongs to no recognized Bronze Age form and it seems probable it is actually a re-used portion of a broken larger weapon such as a rapier blade. "(1) Pirie, (2) however, says it is closely paralleled by one illustrated in Evans' A.B.1., 212, fig.252. (1)(2) This implement is on display in Maidstone Museum but no further information on it was gained there. It was donated to the Museum in 1959 by Northampton Central Museum. Dover Street obviously means Dover Road but it was not possible to trace the site of the cottages in the "upper part" of the road. (3) Additional references (4-5)
