Monument record TR 23 NW 45 - Roman pottery and a mosaic from Sugarloaf Hill, Folkestone

Summary

Roman pottery from Sugarloaf Hill, Folkestone, was exhibited in 1874. No further information has been gained on the 1874 find, but two later Roman finds have been made in the vicinity of Sugarloaf Hill. The first is a large cinerary urn which was found in 1918 during excavations at "the back of the hill". Its fragments are in store in Folkestone Museum. The second is a fragment of tessalated pavement found on an allotment near the foot of Sugarloaf Hill
