Full Description
Watching brief undertaken by Kent Archaeological Projects in 2009 during groundworks. A small 3-roomed medieval building was found, aligned roughly E-W along the upper edge of a natural lynchet. Evidence is slight, with sevear truncation as a result of ploughing. Earth-set timber beam scars/stains and a single internal beam slot reveal the partial plan of the building. A hearth, a post and beam slot feature and a buried pottey vessel containing burnt daub were found. The building could be domestic or indsutrial in origin. (1)
