Monument record TR 24 NE 7 - Site of a Bronze Age round Barrow, near Haynes Farm, Eythorne
Summary
A round barrow site was previously thought to exist near Haynes Farm in the parish of Eythorne. After the identification of a slight mound in 1978, the site was excavated by the Dover Archaeology Group in 1982. The work confirmed it was a round barrow surrounded by two ditches that had been much damaged by ploughing. The upper fill of the inner ditch had been cut by a grave containing an unaccompanied crouched inhumation.
It was situated on a ridge of chalk downland, some 39m to the north-east of Long Lane, which runs between Waldershore Park and Golgotha.
