Monument record TR 24 NW 21 - Early-medieval cemetery, Broome Park, Canterbury

Summary

Anglo-Saxon inhumation cemetery was recorded during a gas pipeline construction in September 1969. Five graves were identified, one contained several inhumations. All the inhumations were orientated north-south. Grave goods included a bead and pottery. The finds are in the Royal Museum, Canterbury. The site lies on a west facing slope. OD 95-100m.

Full Description

TR 22264884. Anglo-Saxon inhumation cemetery cut by gas pipe line line September 1969. Five graves recognised, one containing several burials, all orientated north-south. Finds comprised a green bead and several potsherds, one 8th-9th century. Finds to go to Royal Museum, Canterbury. Find-site surveyed at 1:2500. (1)
