Summary

Ground disturbance caused by the replacement of fruit trees on the summit of the hill revealed a scatter of early Iron Age, late Iron Age and Roman pottery, together with a few pieces of tegula roofing tile and part of a rotary quern.

Full Description

Ground disturbance caused by the replacement of fruit trees on the summit of the hill revealed a scatter of early Iron Age, late Iron Age and Roman pottery, together with a few pieces of tegula roofing tile and part of a rotary quern. The finds indicate the presence of a hilltop settlement overlooking the eastern entrance to the former Wantsum Channel.

Investigations were conducted by members of the Dover Archaeological Group. (1)
