[TR 29574044] Roman Pottery found AD 1916 [NAT] (1) A drainage trench was cut through Farthingloe Farm at Hougham on the Dover side of the `big pond'. Some feet below the surface, Samian ware, Eastchurch pottery and tiles were found, as well as a rough cooking pot. Some of the finds were covered up again but Mr Amos secured one of them. (2-4) Nothing was known of these discoveries at Farthingloe Farm. The big pond has been almost completely filled in but is still identifiable immediately west of the siting symbol. (5)
