Full Description
A number of Iron Age finds were located in 1960 along the course of a water pipe trench from Stourmouth to Adisham. These sites are locatedto grid square TR 24 58 (see map, sites 40-42). This is the water- logged hollow which has since been drained and planted with fruit trees. It was not possible to identify any clear soil discolourationsand finds were few. The finds include struck flakes, two coarse sherds (possibly of Iron Age date), medieval and post-medieval glass and pottery, including stoneware. (The following sites were also recorded along the course of the water pipeline: TR 25 NW 48, 49, 51, 52 and 53; TR 26 SE 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19.) (1)
