Full Description

Three distinct enclosures, all with at least one straight side, next to a track on Cooting Downs. (1,2)

The cropmark features are arranged in a north-south line, ranging over 250 metres, beginning just to the south of the probable Iron Age enclosure TR 25 SW 87. The northern half of the complex comprises a series of small rectangular features and a large curviinear ditched feature, the latter possibly overlain by the former - the precise relationship is unclear. The latter may represent Iron Age activity. The southern half of the complex is a very regular ditched straight sided feature, rectangular with the exception of a fifth diagonal side at the southeastern corner. Along with the rectangular features in the northern part of the compelx it may represent part of a linear settlement of Roman date. (3)
