Monument record TR 26 NE 38 - Anglo Saxon inhumation cemetery, near Minnis Bay, Birchington

Summary

An Anglo Saxon inhumation cemetery was excavated near Minnis Bay, Birchington in 1938. Also found in this area are three burials, one with a knife and a buckle (see TR 26 NE 21). Despite the fact that these burials were found some distance apart in Gallwey Avenue and St. Mildred's Avenue they were identified as part of the same cemetery. The site lies on low ground, sloping towards the south-west. OD 10-15m.
