Full Description

Small square moat indicated on site photographs (1-7).

The remains of a small probable moated enclosure were visible as an earthwork ditched enclosure with curved corners measuring 30m x 40m immediately to the NW of Shuart on photographs taken in 1973 (CUCAP BMT93 04-JUN-1973). The remains of a second possible moat of similar dimensions was seen on the same aerial photograph immediately to the south. Both enclosures are probably destroyed by the construction of two large ponds to the west of Shuart (Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 14-AUG-2003) (8-9).
