Full Description
Single small ring ditch, probably Anglo-Saxon since it is near 'Anglo-Saxon cemetery TR 26 NE 13' other ring ditches of similar size are included in TR 26 NE 17. (1)
Visible in the 2007 Google Earth image. 14m in diameter.
A small ring ditch with a diameter of 14.7m located in fields to the north east of Monkton.Within the SW quadrant of the barrow is an oval pit visible as a cropmark which measures 1.2m x 2.6m. This was identified in aerial photgraphs taken in 1985 and has been mapped from NMR 4138/1 18-JUL-1988 as part of themapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. The barrow is possibly Anglo-Saxon in date and lies in close proximity to a scheduled Jutish cemetery.(2)
