Two ring ditch cropmarks located in fields near St. Nicholas at Wade. The ring ditches adjoin an extensive cropmark feature thought to be a modern defensive trench complex around St Nicholas at Wade (see TR 26 NE 1045). Identified and mapped from aerial photographs.

Full Description

TR 27146725. Two Ring Ditches flanking a hexagon of similar size. The hexagon is part of a modern defensive trench complex around St Nicholas at Wade [TR 27936738]. (1) photographs (2-3)

The cropmark remains of two probable Bronze age round barrows visible as ring ditches which have been mapped from aerial photographs as part ofthe Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024 . They lie either side of the cropmark traces of the trench system forming part of the Second World War Defended Area around St Nicholas at Wade [123871] (4-6).
