Summary
An iron spearhead was found during work to lay a pipeline at Monkton in 1982. The artefact was discovered in the topsoil at the site by a member of the public. The spearheads belongs to a group of slender leaf shaped, straight sided angular blades and is dated to the 6th or 7th centuries.

Full Description
TR 28865. An iron spearhead conforming in shape to Swanton's type E4 was found diring pipe laying operations at Monkton in 1982. It was found in the topsoil by a member of the public. (1,2) Spearheads type E4 are a small group of slender leaf shaped straight sided angular blades usually of 6th-7th century date. (3)
