Findspot record TR 26 NE 98 - Roman Follis of Constantine, Monkton

Summary

A Roman follis of Constantine was found during the construction of the Monkton gas pipeline in 1982. The findspot was in close proximity to Gore Street. The find dates to the early 4th century during the reign of Constantine from AD 306-337. Other than a few sherds of medieval pottery and a few flint flakes little else was found in this area of the pipeline. (location accurate to the nearest 20m based on available information)

[TR 27446502 sited from plan] A Roman follis of Constantine was found during the construction of the Monkton gas pipeline in 1982. Inscribed CONSTANTIVS NOBIL C, GENIO POPVLI ROMS, Trier mint mark ITR.(1)
