Findspot record TR 26 NE 101 - Medieval pottery and a bronze stud, Monkton Court Farm

Summary

Sherds of medieval pottery were found at Monkton Court Farm during the construction of a gas pipeline in 1982. The sherds were made of Tyler Hill fabric and were found with the head of a bronze stud. This find was pierced and decorated with an engraved leaf pattern. The finds were reported in Archaeologia Cantiana Volume CI (1984). It is not known where they are now located. (location accurate to the nearest 20m based on available information)

Full Description

[TR 27686533 sited from plan] During excavations associated with the installation of a pipeline in Monkton in 1982, sherds of medieval Tyler Hill fabric and the head of a bronze stud were found. The bronze stud retained a fragment of a central iron pin, and was pierced and decorated with an engraved leaf pattern. (1)
