Monument record TR 26 NE 105 - Bowl shaped feature, near Monkton
Summary
A bowl shaped archaeological feature was found during the construction of the Monkton gas pipeline in 1982. The feature was 6m across and 1m deep at the centre, and a small pit or possibly a post-hole was recorded to a depth of 0.3m in the centre of this. No datable materials were reported but twelve graves of Anglo-Saxon date have been found in this area (see TR 26 NE 13).
