Findspot record TR 26 NE 133 - Medieval pottery sherds on the foreshore near Plumpudding Island, Birchington

Summary

Medieval pottery has been reported on the foreshore near Plumpudding Island. The finds are exposed when strong winter gales reduce the levels of sedimentation at the beach. The pot sherds are thought to orginate in the underlying Thanet Beds geological layers. Sand tempered pottery sherds have also been reported in this area.
