Full Description
An Acheulian hand axe was found on the beach at the foot of the cliffs at TR 21266899, just E of 100ft contour, c. 550m to E of Bishopstone Gap, during the winter of 1951-52, by Mr. J. Yorke-Robinson, owner of Cliff Pavilion Camp Site, Glenbervie Drive, Beltinge, Herne Bay, who retains the implement (1, 2). It is in very fresh condition, suggesting a) that it had recently fallen from the cliff and had not moved far and (b) that the deposit from which it originated contains minimally disturbed material.
