Full Description

[TR 22336421] Roman pottery found April 1949, 8 yards from road at depth of 3 feet. (1) On exhibition in Chislet Parish Church is a 1st century A.D. Roman burial group found by Mr. P. Male, sexton, on April 4, 1949, whilst digging a grave in the south east corner of the new churchyard (a). The pottery includes a small handled jug, three ollae and a drinking cup. Mr. Male indicated the site at TR 22346420. (2) additional bibliography (3-4)
