Full Description

TR 36224685. A Neolithic/Bronze Age flint knife from Kingsdown, near Deal. In early September 1984 Tina Avann of the Dover Archaeological Group discovered a fine example of a Neolithic-Bronze Age flint knife during a survey of the Kingsdown area. It was found on the surface of a recently harrowed field on Free Down, just within the south- western boundary of Ringwould-with-Kingsdown parish some 300m SW of two Bronze Age barriws excavated by Woodruff in 1872 (see TR 34 NE 12). The knife is 8.5cms long, 2.8cms wide and weighs 33.3 grams. It has not suffered plough damage and is covered with a milky blue-white patina. It has an asymmetrical cross-section. (1)
