Roman tiles and pottery, including Samian and Castor Wares, "have been dug up over a period of twenty-five years in small quantities over a small area, at Greenhill, Otford." (Long 0 12' 32": Lat. 51 19' 13"). "The indication is a small settlement, some boundary banks of which still show. There may be some connection with the Roman villa at Progress Down on the Pilgrims Way, nearby." (See TQ 55 N.W.3). (1) (2) Mrs. Mountjoy, owner of Stursden, indicated the site of the various diggings at TQ 5390 6034. An inspection of the ground revealed no traces of banks other than modern field banks. None of the finds have been preserved and no further work has been carried out. (a) (3) Listed as the possible site of a Roman villa. (4)
