Monument record TR 34 SW 10 - Romano-British burials, Adrian Street, Dover
Summary
A Roman burial ground with several urns, some containing coins, was found in 1797 in clearing a garden on the edge of the cliff near Adrian's Gate at Dover. Several more were found in 1804. These are the earliest two examples of Roman burials coming up in this area, many more burials and Roman finds have come up on this street and it is very likely that this was the location of a large Roman cemetery, possibly serving the Forts and Extra Mural settlement to the east.
