An early-medieval jug, previously held in Dover Museum; it was seen by Charles Roach Smith and thought to have been found in a barrow near Dover. The current location of the jug is uncertain and no further information on the barrow is known.

Full Description

A jug of the Anglo-Saxon period, seen by Smith in Dover Museum, was understood by him to have been found in a barrow near Dover. (1,2) The jug is no longer in the Dover Museum. It may have been destroyed during the war. No further information concerning the discovery has been gained during fieldwork. (3) Before 1852 C R Smith saw a Frankish type jug in Dover Museum, and was told it came from a barrow near Dover. (4)
