Full Description

[TR 31644301] Roman potsherds, oyster shells and large flints, most probably from the metalling of possible Roman road [R.R.100] found in allotment gardens very close to edge of present road. Black soil indicating a Roman occupation site also found. (1) No further information, has been gained concerning this site. The field within which the finds were made is the property of Kent Education Committee, who took possession of it about 1949. It previously belonged to a Mr Henry West (who died in 1954) and had been in the West family for about 50 years (a).
