Full Description

An Early Bronze Age B2 beaker was found in 1883 in Maison Dieu Fields, Connaught Park, Dover, (area centred at TR 31684220). It has a prominent foot and an outbent rim, the decoration consists of two bands of toothed wheel lines separated by a plain zone, and below this is a series of four irregular lines to the base. There are also one or two haphazard finger nail markings where the pot had been handled carelessly before firing. The beaker is 12cm high and is made of a poor, badly fired red paste. The beaker was originally discovered in 1883 and is reported by Jessup to have been in Dover Museum, cannot be traced and was probably lost when the museum was partly destroyed during the last war.
