Full Description
An Anglo-Saxon brooch, shield boss, iron sword and spearhead in Leeds Museum, were found with a skeleton in a stone cist or coffin, probably in Guston parish. (1-2) TR 3244. An Anglo Saxon burial from Guston. Before 1864. A silver-gilt brooch with a cruciform design in garnets was found on the breast of a man in a stone cist or coffin. A shield-boss and sword, presumably from the same burial, are still in the Leeds Museum, but the brooch must have been destroyed during the second world war. (3)
