Monument record TR 34 SW 97 - Neolithic occupation site, Dover.

Summary

A Neolithic occupation site covering a wide area and dating to approximately 2000 BC was revealed during excavations on the west side of the Market Square in the 1970's. Large quantities of flint flakes, waste and associated implements were recovered from the pre-Roman land-surface. Sherds of probable fengate pottery were also found in one area. (location accurate to the nearest 100m based on available information)
