Full Description
The possible site of Cow Gate, part of the Medieval defences of Dover, is noted by Batcheller as being at the eastern end of Durham/Cowgate Hill, to the west of York Street (1) The precise date of the construction/demolition of this gate is unknown but it appears to be present on a map by Thomas Miles dating to 1580 (2) and another by Thomas Digges dating to 1595, suggesting that it survived until at least this date.
