Full Description
(TR 31314209)(Sited to street name only. Toy pistol, Bridge Street. During July 1977 Mr P Reid, one of the Dover Engineering Works building crew, was taking down a chimney breast inside the former public house called "The Town Arms" in Bridge Street, Dover. In the rubble core of the structure he found a child's toy pistol. The style seems typical of small flintlock pistols of the late eighteenth to mid nineteenth century period. This top would seem to be a unique object made for boys' games when Napoleon was the popular 'Baddie' (see illustration card). (1)
