Full Description

TR 32445661. Dene Hole near Biller's Bush. A Dene Hole was discovered in April 1979, on the line of the Sandwich By-Pall, to the east of the A256 near Biller's Bush. The shaft was discovered during the mechanical stripping of the ground on the line of a new road. From notes and photographs provided by the contractors (J Mowlem and Co Ltd) the shaft was judged to be approximately 3.80m deep. The Dene Hole was probably of post-medieval date and served as a chalk pit. (1 - 2)
