Full Description

In G Denne's brickfield, Mill Road, Deal, five roughly made urns were found in a V-shped cavity 4 feet deep. One contained a stone grain crusher and all doubtless contained calcined bones but they collapsed and there is no definite information on this. There was a layer of flint flakes between the urns and the surface and the cavity had been filled up with burnt earth mixed with flint flakes. (1) G. Denne of Deal owned several brick-earth pits in Mill Road during the early part of this century (see TR 35 SE 35,58,59). None of these pits are noted as the site of Bronze Age finds either on the late Mr W.P.D. Stebbings MS 2"map or on the 2.5":1 mile Distribution Map compiled by Dunning and Stebbing in Deal Castle Museum. G.C. Denne of Deal were unable to help and no further information was gained during fieldwork. (2) additional reference (3)
