Belgic pottery found in North Walls sandpits is noted by Mr Manser, resident in Deal until c. 1920. The sandpits are not known of locally by name, but W.P.D Stebbing on his MS 2" map has 'Keltic' and 'Ro finds' symbols over a sandpit at TR 37055324 which is 150m south of Northwall Road, and is the only one in the area. It is now disused and overgrown. Fragments of EIA pottery presented to the BM in 1915 (a) may have come from this site, also a LBA leaf-shaped bronze spearhead on display in Deal Castle Museum (Deal Town Hall Collection) "from a sandpit at North Deal". (1) TR 37055324. Before 1921: A fine mortarium, a lamp and some other pottery, perhaps including Iron Age and Belgic sherds, were found in as and pit 'at North Deal'. The site is probably the disused pit at TR 37055324. (2)
