Monument record TR 35 SE 48 - Early-medieval inhumation
Summary
Early-medieval inhumation (probable site of) Mongeham Road, Great Mongeham, Deal The site lies mid way down a west-north-west facing slope. OD 10-15m. Grave goods including a pin, two finger rings and a small saucer brooch form part of the Deal Town Hall Collection in Deal Castle Museum. A Kentish-type button brooch, a belt-plate and a bronze pin were found at the stone pits at Mongeham Bottom, and were probably from a single burial or even several burials. In Deal Town Hall Museum. The site may be as much as several hundred yards from a pot found in 1911 (TR 35 SE 47), but it is possibly part of the same cemetery. AS inhumation.
