Full Description
[TR 36215088] Belgic Habitation site found about AD 1935 [NAT] (1) A V-shaped pit which contained Belgic sherds was revealed in November 1935 when digging a drain to a bungalow at Mill Hill. The pit ran roughly N-S on the northern [western] side of Cross Road about 100 yards W [S] of the Mill-Hill Waterworks Road (St Richard's Road) crossing and was 11 feet wide, 4 feet 9 inches deep. At 3 feet from the surface, was a narrow burnt layer with food bones, a quantity of potsherds and remains of many domestic wheel-turned vessels of the C1 AD. (2) additional references (3-4)
