Full Description

TR 355 515 Bronze Age discoveries at Deal. During development of a site at St Richard's Road, Deal, for housing, a ring ditch enclosing two inhumations of probable Bronze Age date was located and recorded. This was subsequently destroyed by the development. (1)

Additional Info (2)

Excavated in 1977 by the Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit when the houses on the site were being built. Traces of a ring ditch, possibly recut three times, were found, describing a barrow of about 26m across. Two crouched inhumations were excavated on the eastern side of the barrow, within the ring ditch on the mound itself. A third burial was recovered by workmen from a foundation trench towards the centre of the mound and may represent the primary burial. (3)
