Full Description
TR 3541 5085 A Late Bronze Age socketed axe found at Great Mongeham near Deal. In 1971 a potato harvester working in a field near Buttler's Bottom, to the S of Great Mongeham, near Deal turned up a fine Late Bronze Age socketed axe (see illustration card). The find was discovered by Mrs R. Glanville of Deal. The implement belongs to the well known SE England Carp's Tongue/Ewart Park metal-working tradition and is probably dateable to the period c900-700 BC. The axe appears to be an isolated find. Mrs R Glanville retains the find. (1)
